The active ingredient is valacyclovir. Valtrex is a medication of the antiviral group, which falls into acyclovir and valine as soon as it gets into organism.
Valtrex is used for treatment of:
- Herpes zoster;
- Skin and mucous diseases, provoked by herpes simplex virus of both types;
- Deleterious effects of transplantation.
Dosage
The dosage of treatment is purely individual and varies a lot. It depends on the character of disease and cure intensity.
Side Effects and Contraindications
The most frequent side effect is digestive dysfunction, which leads to nausea, vomiting and sometimes to diarrhea. Among less frequent signs of drug rejection are CNS disorders – headache, temporary neurological disorders, hallucinations, mind confusion.
Valtrex is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to the active ingredient (valacyclovir and acyclovir).
